Earlier this year, I published my first book, Utopia’s Wake: Terms of Survival. It was a tremendous learning experience.
First, I learned I could have an idea and follow it through to completion.
Second, I learned I have incredibly supportive friends and family. There were times I wanted to gift a copy of the book to a friend, and they said, “No, let me order it from Amazon to show my support.” For anyone in the creative arts, this is one of the greatest shows of support someone can offer.
Third, and the reason for this post, is that I realized I’m a shite marketer. I’ve often said I belong to the Bill Hicks Marketing Fan Club. If you know, you know. But my general disdain for marketing has hampered my ability to sell books independently.
So with the upcoming release of my second book, A Box Shaped Like a Castle, it’s a Novella, longer than a short story but not really a novel. I realized that to get any sort of traction on Amazon, I need to boost my pre-sales and day-one sales.
I’ve been told that bribery, or freebies rather, is a good way to get people to buy what you’re selling, so I want to try something new.
In an effort to boost my email list on Billinformed.com, I’m offering a free eBook copy of Utopia’s Wake: Terms of Survival for anyone who signs up for a free membership on my website.
My thinking is that with your precious, precious email address, when the $5 ebook A Box Shaped Like a Castlegoes on sale November 3rd, I can send my email list a gentle nudge, reminder, hey hey it’s out now email in case you want to buy it. Note: the $9.99 paperback is technically available for purchase now, but with printing and shipping times, you won’t receive it until after November 3rd.
If I do this right, this will be the end of the free public preview, BUT if you sign up for a free membership to Billinformed.com, below this blurb will be a Google Drive link where you can download a free ebook copy of Utopia’s Wake.
Let’s see how it goes.
